BROOKFIELD, Wis. – April 1, 2013 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) HomMed, a global leader in telehealth and remote patient care, today announced its LifeStream Leaders Advantage Program, designed to support healthcare providers as they implement, market and grow their telehealth programs.
With LifeStream Leaders Advantage, healthcare providers can tap into Honeywell HomMed’s network of marketing assets and clinical expertise – including educational opportunities, access to marketing funds and vertical marketing kits – to ensure they have the right tools in place to successfully communicate the benefits of their telehealth programs to patients and referral sources, such as physicians and hospitals.

- OVERNIGHT HEALTH: CMS nominee faces confirmation hearing
Marilyn Tavenner is headed to Capitol Hill tomorrow for a hearing on her nomination to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
She’s certain to face tough questions, especially from Republican senators, but just the fact that she’s receiving a hearing at all raises the prospect of a major healthcare nominee receiving bipartisan support in the Senate.
This is the second time President Obama has nominated Tavenner to lead CMS; she didn’t get a hearing last year because of the election-season tensions surrounding healthcare. But with the election in the rear-view mirror, Republicans agreed to consider Tavenner’s nomination — and she has some friends on that side of the aisle.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) has praised Tavenner after working with her when she ran Virginia’s Medicaid program, and she has a reputation for both working hard and for bipartisanship.
The hearing starts at 10 a.m.
- Administration pushes toward electronic medical records
The Obama administration is moving to ease the national transition from paper to electronic health records through a pair of proposed rules to be published this week.
The rules, to hit Tuesday’s Federal Register, would update and extend existing regulations surrounding the sharing of patient electronic records.
Federal law generally prohibits hospitals from giving medical record software to doctors who would then use it to refer patients back to the facility for treatment. Violations can be charged as felonies and are punishable by prison time and fined up to $25,000.
